Clarke Pennsylvania News and Events
Welcome from the Director
Welcome to Clarke Pennsylvania! Parents who choose Clarke Pennsylvania have made a very important decision; one that will affect their child's outlook, adjustment and future success in and out of school. Clarke Pennsylvania opened in 2001 and is a program modeled after the renowned Clarke - School for the Deaf/Center for Oral Education's successful early intervention, mainstream and preschool programs. We work with young deaf and hard of hearing children and their families living in the Philadelphia area. It is designed to meet the audiological, educational and communication needs of deaf and hard of hearing children. Clarke Pennsylvania uses the auditory/oral approach to prepare deaf students, ages 0 to 6, for eventual transition into public and/or private schools with their hearing peers. At Clarke, parents will find a unique learning environment designed to maximize deaf children's auditory/oral language skills. We help each child to develop a foundation made up of confidence, love, sense of self-worth and pride. The end result will be a child who meets the world head on saying," I can do it!, I am special!"My staff and I are committed to providing the best learning atmosphere for deaf children. We share in parents' commitment to provide children with the best early intervention and preschool programs. We focus on the whole child. We welcome visitors and all of our classrooms are equipped with observation rooms. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.Judith Sexton, M.S., C.E.D.
